Mefane / Cameroon
LOG:
Time spent in Cameroun was done in collaboration with WOPA : The Women’s Promotion and Assistance Association.
WOPA, a Non-Governmental Organization created by Veronique Folack and located in Kribi, offers training in sewing, culinary arts, and community health to adequately fit the needs of Kribi’s economy and its people.
WOPA’s classes are hands-on and free, and geared towards low-income and under-educated students.
Sewing is a very common practice with women in Kribi and through it, WOPA has helped manufacture all 40 Pigmy children's uniforms in the village of Mefane.
Veronique is doing a fantastic job at helping these remote villages and thanks to her, we managed to also provide the students and the teacher with pencils, notebooks, erasers, pens, rulers, a full school supply package.
It's worth noting that the delivery of these accessories turned out to be a nightmare due to road conditions there.
